Desert Night

The Desert night, on a velvet screen,
With Stars like jewels upon it's roof,
Bewitches me with it's silver Scene.
Where Cacti and Joshuas stand,
against the moon lit sky,
cast there shadows upon the sand.
Just endless miles of barren waste,
of heat and rocks and sand.
Where rain is foreign to the taste,
and rugged mountains stand.
In the desert silence is a thing profound,
only the sound of the wind can be heard,
for no other creature seems to be around.

I come here to the desert to mediate,
and here in the barren loneliness,
I try and figure out my fate.
Each day I struggle with increasing weight,
and pray for strength as I await my fate.
